Gazprom, NIOC sign memo on development of gas fields in Iran
MOSCOW, Nov 3 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom and National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) have signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation in development of natural gas fields in Iran and on monetization of the produced gas, including through liquefaction and gas chemistry, Gazprom said in a statement on Friday.
“In accordance with the document, the sides will study prospects of partnership in the sphere of development of gas fields on the territory of the republic, its transportation and monetization, including through liquefaction and production of gas chemistry products,” the company said.
Gazprom and NIOC will develop a concept of a unified system for production and transportation of the natural gas in Iran and development of gas chemistry in the country. The two companies also plan to prepare a feasibility study for a project for construction of a gas pipeline to India from Iran through Pakistan.
Besides that, Gazprom has agreed with Industrial Development & Renovation Organization of Iran to consider cooperation in gas liquefaction in Iran with further sales of LNG in third countries, as well as in deep processing of gas and of gas chemistry in Iran, the company said.
On Wednesday, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Gazprom plans to produce gas in Iran and to build a 1,200-kilometer pipeline from the country to India.
